Choosing honey and dates in Pakistan
Honey and dates are the traditional sweeteners of Pakistani kitchens, from a spoon of honey in morning chai to dates at iftar. Both are natural foods, but both are still sugar, so they work best in place of white sugar rather than on top of it. If you live with diabetes or prediabetes, count them in your daily carbohydrate and ask your dietitian how much fits your plan. How to tell genuine honey
Pure honey is thick and smooth, pours in a slow ribbon and smells faintly floral. It can crystallise (turn thick and grainy) in cold weather, which is normal and not a sign of adulteration.
